Tiny black dots on your nose are called sebaceous filaments which are harmless features that help keep your skin moist.

They may look like blackheads but they are not.

Sebaceous filaments are natural, healthy features that help move sebum to the skin's surface for moisturizing.

Blackheads form when too much sebum, dead skin cells, and bacteria clog a pore.

Because sebaceous filaments are a normal part of your skin's moisturizing process, they should be left alone.

Using pore strips on the nose is a quick and effective way to get rid of sebaceous filaments (temporarily).

Use any of the following products to exfoliate the skin and unclog the troublesome pores: Salicylic acid (or butylated hydroxyanisole) Benzoyl peroxide.

Sebaceous filaments are entirely necessary to the skin's function and shouldn't be removed, especially by aggressively yanking them out.

If you do remove them, your skin will just naturally replace sebaceous filaments with new ones.

A sebaceous filament is sebum and dead skin cells that collect around a hair follicle.

Sebum is an oily semifluid substance produced by your skin's sebaceous gland.

It lubricates and softens our skin and hair.

Each of your hair follicles is associated with at least one sebaceous gland.

Truth be told, you can never completely get rid of sebaceous filaments.

You can extract them, but they'll come back shortly thereafter, usually around 30 days or less for those with very oily skin.

Tiny black dots on your nose are a result of clogged pores and clogged hair follicles on your nose that the natural oil that the glands of our skin make which is called sebum.

When those tiny pores become clogged they can produce tiny black dots and pimples on your nose.

Tiny black dots are more likely to form on the nose because the nose has lots of glands.

The white stuff that comes out of your pores like thin strings when you squeeze your nose is called a sebaceous filament.

It's mostly made up of sebum (oil that your skin produces) and dead skin cells.

This substance typically collects in pores around your nose and chin.
