Here's the question for School Nurses, from 1st grade - 12th graders. Can a school nurse tell a parent that the child's accident, he will have to wear diapers for a few weeks or the rest of the school year?

If the child is pulled out of school because of his/her accidents, is that "endangering the welfare of the child and child abuse?

A school nurse or school cannot force a child to wear diapers just because of an accident.

Back in the 80s and 90s some schools would require a child who had an accident to wear a diaper, training pants etc if they had more than one accident.

However today things have changed and parents are suing schools for things left and right.

So if a school required a child to wear diapers for a few accidents then the parents or at least most of the parents would be outraged.

Most often now though a school nurse and school would just have the child clean up and may call the child's parents to either bring them some clothes or come pick them up.

When I was in school years ago I remember a few kids who would get a diaper put on them for an accident for the rest of the school day.

Then they would sometimes return to school for at least a week in a diaper or at least be required to change into a diaper once they got to the school.

However times have changed today so it's not that common for nurses in schools or schools to put a child in diapers.

Still though I've read a few news articles about children being sent home in diapers or pull ups for potty accidents.

I would not be outraged if my child was put into a diaper or pull up in school for wetting as long as it kept their pants dry.

If the child is pulled out of school for too many potty accidents then it may be considered child neglect as in neglect of education for the child.

Still though there's the option of homeschooling a child if they are pulled out of school or they can go to another school.

Oh ok. I was that boy that was diapered at school around 7-17. I wasn't so lucky

If I had a boy and he wet or messed my pants at school, I know I would be happy if the nurse called me. I would offer to buy him diapers for the week and diapers for at home.
