Why do people get Influenza?

I've always wondered this.

What is the purpose of the dreaded influenza? Why do we get it?
 

It makes us feel awful.

I wish I knew that answer too. I hate getting that flu.

Hard to say what exactly causes the flu virus in the first place.

But people get it by being around others who are sick with the flu and those who cough without covering there mouth and not washing there hands.
