Why do phones explode when charging?

What causes cell phones to explode when they're charging?

I've never heard of a cell phone exploding while it's being charged up but I guess it could.

If the cell phone explodes while charging then it's likely because the phone not shutting the charging off to the battery and causing the battery to get overcharged or the battery itself got a short in it.
