It is normal to wet the bed or even wet your pants in the daytime after having a baby.

Having a baby and giving birth to a baby can put pressure on your bladder and lead to a weakened bladder which is usually temporary.

Sometimes the bladder eventually strengthens and the wetting the bed or wetting the pants stops eventually and sometimes it does not go away without treatment and bladder strengthening exercises.

Postpartum urinary incontinence is involuntary leaking of urine that can occur after pregnancy and childbirth.

You may experience this loss of bladder control while laughing, sneezing, coughing or performing a strenuous activity, and it's very common after giving birth.

Although many say it takes six weeks to recover after giving birth, it can actually take six to 12 months for your body to fully recover.

During those six to 12 months of recovery, your body continues to experience hormonal changes that affect your bladder.

Loss of bladder control can be caused by pelvic organ prolapse (slipping down) that can sometimes happen after childbirth.

Your pelvic muscles can stretch and become weaker during pregnancy or a vaginal delivery.

If the pelvic muscles do not provide enough support, your bladder might sag or droop.

Some ways to help treat and control urinary incontinence after giving birth include.

Wearing adult diapers, pull ups, pads etc.

Reduce or completely give up caffeine, carbonated drinks, and alcohol.

Losing some weight will ease the pressure on your bladder and pelvic floor.

Stop smoking if you haven't done so already.

Don't stop drinking water thinking that it will reduce your urge or need to urinate.
