Lomotil works in the body by slowing down digestion in the stomach and also relaxes the digestive (stomach) muscles.

IMODIUM is much stronger than Lomotil although both Lomotil and IMODIUM are equally effective in treating diarrhea.

IMODIUM is better than Pepto because IMODIUM works much faster than Pepto.

If you want fast diarrhea relief then you should go for the IMODIUM.

Some of the negative effects of IMODIUM include constipation, drowsiness, dizziness and tiredness.

Imodium does have magnesium in it which is one of the inactive ingredients.

The indications of IMODIUM are the control and symptomatic relief of acute nonspecific diarrhea in people 2 years of age and older and of chronic diarrhea in adults associated with inflammatory bowel disease.

Imodium stays in your system for around 2 to 3 days.

However within 11 hours after taking Imodium the levels of Imodium in your body is reduced by half.

After the 11 hours the Imodium will have less and less of an effect on controlling your diarrhea.

After you take Imodium you poop as normal and your poop then becomes firmer and so you should have a normal bowel movement after taking Imodium.

Imodium is very effective and can work in as little as 1 hour after taking it.

After you take Imodium it should begin working to stop the diarrhea within 1 hour of taking it.

Take IMODIUM straight after your first bout of diarrhea and it can relieve diarrhea in just one hour so your body can start to recover sooner.

Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids and/or taking a rehydration treatment.

Imodium can make you sleepy.

Some people who take Imodium experience drowsiness as well as dizziness.

So avoid driving or doing any activities where you need to be alert until you know if the Imodium is making you dizzy or sleepy.

Expired IMODIUM does not make you sick although it can be less effective.

Expired medicines are generally safe to take although as the medicines expires it most often becomes less effective so it does not work as good as fresh non expired medicines.

You can take expired IMODIUM.

Expired IMODIUM is safe to take but to get the desired results you may need to up your dosage slightly.

I've taken expired IMODIUM before and nothing bad happened.

Imodium only comes in blister packs because people would abuse the Imodium so they only sell Imodium in blister packs in small reasonable quantities for safety.

To foster safe use of the over-the counter (OTC) anti-diarrhea drug loperamide, FDA is working with manufacturers to use blister packs or other single dose packaging and to limit the number of doses in a package.

The ingredients in IMODIUM include lactose, maize starch, purified talc and magnesium stearate, iron oxide yellow (E172), indigo carmine (E132), erythrosine (E127), titanium dioxide (E171) and gelatin.

IMODIUM also contains an active ingredient called Loperamide.

The drugs that Loperamide interact with include amiodarone, chlorpromazine, haloperidol, methadone, moxifloxacin, pentamidine, procainamide, quinidine, sotalol, thioridazine, ziprasidone as well as some others.

Loperamide 2 mg is used for treating diarrhea or runny poop.

The Loperamide helps to stop the diarrhea and runny poop when taken.

Adults and children 13 years of age and older—At first, 4 milligrams (mg) (2 capsules) after the first loose bowel movement, then 2 mg (1 capsule) after each loose bowel movement after the first dose has been taken.

Antidarrheal medicines contain an active ingredient known as Loperamide which works  to decrease the flow of fluids and electrolytes into the bowel which then slows down the movement of the bowels to decrease the number of bowel movements.

This then also allows more fluid to be absorbed into the body which helps you by having less diarrhea and more formed and bulky stools.

It is possible to take too much Loperamide.

Taking too much Loperamide can cause serious health issues and heart problems and even death.

Too much loperamide can cause serious heart problems (including a fast or irregular heartbeat).

Pharmacies and supermarkets may sell their own brands of loperamide, usually called anti-diarrhoea or diarrhoea relief capsules.

Some products have IBS in the name.

Loperamide does not cause dehydration but diarrhea if left untreated can lead to dehydration.

The Loperamide can stop diarrhea which can cause dehydration.

Some side effects of Loperamide include.

Dizziness,
Drowsiness,
Tiredness,
Constipation,
Stomach pain,
Skin rash, or.
Itching.

The active ingredient in anti diarrhea medicine is Loperamide.

Loperamide is used to control and relieve the symptoms of acute diarrhea.

It is also used to treat chronic diarrhea in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

Loperamide helps stop diarrhea by slowing down the movements of the intestines.

Imodium, also stylized as Imodium A-D, is the brand name for loperamide.

Unlike Lomotil, Imodium can be purchased over the counter (OTC).

Therefore, it's more widely available. Loperamide is a synthetic opioid that binds to opioid receptors in the intestinal wall to slow gut movement.

Loperamide is an antidiarrheal active ingredient available in over-the-counter (OTC) medicines that treat the symptoms of diarrhea, including traveler's diarrhea.

Loperamide can be the only active ingredient in an anti-diarrheal medicine or it can be found in medicines that also treat symptoms such as gas.

Check with your doctor before taking Loperamide if you have any of the following.

You have had an allergic reaction to loperamide or any other medicines in the past.
You have had diarrhoea for more than 48 hours.
You have HIV and your stomach becomes swollen.
You have liver problems.
You have blood in your poo and a high temperature – these can be signs of dysentery.

IMODIUM products contain an active ingredient called Loperamide, which works to slow your system to its normal pace.

This allows the body to start absorbing fluids and salts as it should, restoring the consistency of stools.

Lomotil (diphenoxylate and atropine) and Imodium (loperamide hydrochloride) are antidiarrheal medications used to treat diarrhea.

Lomotil also contains an anticholinergic.

Unless directed by a physician, Imodium isn't intended to treat long-term or chronic diarrhea.

Side effects are possible, even when someone uses Imodium as directed or intended.

Although some side effects are common and expected, a person who is abusing Imodium may have more serious side effects.
