Waterbeds are not cold once the water has time to warm up to room temperature.

However if you put water freshly in the waterbed it might be cold for a few days or so but eventually it should warm up and the bed can keep you cool but you will usually be pretty warm and snug and comfortable in the waterbed.

When compared to a regular mattress the waterbed does help keep you cool.

Water is such a good conductor of heat and has the ability to conduct excess heat away from the body during summer.

Nothing is more relaxing than a warm waterbed on a cold winter's night.

And during summer, turn the heater down to keep you cool.

Waterbed heaters cost way less than an electric blanket to run.

I once stayed with family who had a waterbed in the guest bedroom and I got the best sleep on that thing during the summertime when otherwise I would be sweating and feeling too hot and warm in a regular mattress.

If I could get another waterbed for myself I certainly would but I'm afraid my cats would puncture it and I love them sleeping with me.

It simply does not provide the right amount of give for this sleeper.

Think about laying on hardwood floors on your side, it's not comfortable because you feel pressure against your shoulder and hip.

A side sleeper should use a medium-soft to medium-firm mattress.

Side sleepers should watch out for hip and shoulder pain and a medium-soft to medium-firm mattress can give the correct support while gently cradling the hips and shoulders to prevent stress and injury.

In general, a medium-firm mattress is ideal for side sleepers, as it allows for spinal support, but it is flexible to adjust to the body curvature, adding that those who weigh more will see greater benefits by opting for a firmer mattress.

When sleeping on your side, try placing a pillow between your knees to help with spine alignment.

Use a thicker pillow if sleeping on your side and a thinner pillow when sleeping on your back.

If sleeping on your stomach, try putting a pillow under your pelvis and consider using a thinner pillow under your head.
