Boys can get UTI's.

UTI's although more common in girls and females can also occur in boys and men as well.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common in kids.

The UTI or Urinary Tract Infection happens when bacteria (germs) get into the bladder or kidneys.

A baby with a UTI may have a fever, throw up, or be fussy.

Older kids may have a fever, have pain when peeing, need to pee a lot, or have lower belly pain.

Signs of a UTI in a boy include.

Pain, burning, or a stinging feeling when urinating.
Urinating often or feeling an urgent need to urinate, even without passing urine.
Foul-smelling urine that may look cloudy or have blood in it.
Fever.
Pain in the low back or around the bladder.

Most childhood UTIs or Urinary Tract Infections will clear up within 24 to 48 hours of treatment with antibiotics and won't cause any long-term problems.

In many cases, treatment involves your child taking a course of antibiotic tablets at home.

Common causes of UTIs are constipation, wiping from back to front, holding in pee, taking bubble baths or staying in a wet bathing suit for extended periods.

However, recurrent UTIs could be a sign of a malformation or malfunction of the urinary tract, such as vesicoureteral reflux (VUR).

Some ways to prevent a UTI in children and adults include.

Make sure the child goes pee often when needed.
Change diapers often if they are in diapers.
Drink plenty of liquids, especially water.
Drink cranberry juice.
Wipe from front to back.
Empty your bladder soon after intercourse.
Avoid potentially irritating feminine products.
Change your birth control method.

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection in any part of your urinary system your kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra.

Most infections involve the lower urinary tract the bladder and the urethra.

Women are at greater risk of developing a UTI than are men.
