Repairing a dishwasher is only worth it if you can do the repairs yourself and only if it's something such as a small part like a water valve etc that needs replaced.

If your dishwasher needs a new circuit board, new motor etc then the cost to repair the dishwasher can be too much and it would be cheaper and much better to just replace the dishwasher with a new one.

If you repair the dishwasher and have a pro come and repair it then you'll pay a service charge as well as the parts costs which can add up to a few hundred dollars.

I would recommend just replacing the dishwasher instead if it needs more repairs that are gonna cost you as much or nearly as much as a new dishwasher.

A good quality dishwasher should normally last between 5 to 10 years at least.

However I've had some cheaper dishwashers only last 1 to 2 years which was not very good.

I would expect longer than 1 to 2 years out of a dishwasher but most dishwashers you buy today are made so cheaply and with all the electronic stuff on them the dishwasher can go bad sooner than it normally should.

My parents had a dishwasher that lasted 20 years but today's dishwashers you're lucky to get 1 or 2 years out of them especially if they are the cheaper ones.

If you buy a higher quality brand dishwasher then it should last at least 5 years or hopefully 10 to 15 years..

If you get 10 years out of a dishwasher you're doing good and after 10 to 15 years you should be planning on replacing the dishwasher with a new one.

Repairing a dishwasher can cost just as much as buying a new dishwasher so I would not recommend repairing a dishwasher because something else can and will go wrong with it.

You have to consider how old your dishwasher is, and if parts are available, you can easily have it repaired or you will need to hire a repair service.

If the repair will cost about or more than the cost of buying a new one, you should probably buy a new unit. Usually the labor of a service technician is more expensive than the required part.

If you can still get your old dishwasher parts, you can try replacing them yourself. There are many HOW videos on YouTube. Again, if you don't have the right tools, you should also consider the cost of purchasing the required tools. In most cases, all you will need are regular everyday tools like wrenches, screwdrivers and pliers, and I also recommend a soldering iron from (It's wise for every homeowner to have a basic toolbox. Reasonably priced kits are available from Sears, Home Depot, Lowes, Amazon ...)

In my opinion it's not worth the cost to repair a dishwasher unless you can repair it yourself.

My mom had her dishwasher repaired and it cost her $100.00 service charge and another $80.00 for the parts.

So the parts and labor charge came to $180.00

The dishwasher was 8 years old and only lasted another 3 years before it needed replaced.

In my opinion it's best to just buy and install a new dishwasher than repair an old one.

The whole tool is made of high quality steel and nothing broke in 5 years of operation. I am very pleased with the tool and I use it not only for auto repair.
