Most landlords won't start the eviction process until you're at least a month behind on rent.
However if you're late on rent then a few days later then the landlord may send you a pay or quit notice which allows you time to pay the rent or move out.
Then if you do not move out or pay the rent then you will be taken to court for eviction which usually happens after a month or two being behind on rent.
You should contact your landlord and let them know that you're gonna be late with the rent and if it's your first time being late with the rent then they'll usually work with you.
A landlord would rather get the rent payment and keep you as a tenant than have to go through eviction which costs the landlord money and time.
I've been a month late with rent before because I was laid off a job and then caught up the second and last months rent on the next month when I got my next paycheck at my next job.
Just work with your landlord and they'll usually work with you.
But you can be evicted even after being a few days late on the rent if the landlord wants to evict you.
