Some ways to stop overthinking include.

Note that awareness is the beginning of change.
Don't think of what can go wrong, but what can go right.
Distract yourself into happiness.
Put things into perspective.
Stop waiting for perfection.
Change your view of fear.
Put a timer to work.

An overthinker is someone who gives a thought too much time and attention.

The two basic things that underly overthinking is stress and anxiety.

Apart from these basics, issues with one's self-esteem and self-doubt are other common causes of overthinking.

Highlighting the pandemic situation,social distancing has caused us stress and anxiety, and anxiety is a natural response to fear.

Overthinking is also often associated with mental health issues like depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress and borderline personality disorder.

To break the habit of overthinking of things a good first step is to take note of what triggers your overthinking.

Overthinking is not as bad as it's considered.

The one who thinks a lot and analyzes the long term or short term impact of any particular decision; is happier and more satisfied.

In fact, it's observed that overthinkers are more prepared for any situation be it “good or bad”.

It can disrupt synapse regulation, resulting in the loss of sociability and the avoidance of interactions with others.

Stress can kill brain cells and even reduce the size of the brain.

Overthinking can be viewed as both a strength and a weakness; it is, therefore, not a strong answer to give when asked about your weaknesses at interview.

In some respects, someone that overthinks can be perceived to be unsure of themselves and their decision-making.
