You won't go to jail for having unpaid credit cards or other debt. You can go to jail for not paying income tax or sales tax though.
But for credit card and other debt the worse that will happen is they decide to sue you in court over the debt.
But after 7 years of trying to collect the debt they can't sue you unless you respond to the debt.
