Is it normal for a double wall stove pipe to get hot to the touch on the outside?

I'm concerned about my house and my wood stove now. I installed a double wall pipe through my wall and I thought it was supposed to stay cool on the outside?

It's getting hot where I can't leave my hand on the pipe. It is normal for the double wall stove pipe to be hot on the outside?

Yes it's okay for a double wall stove pipe to get hot to the touch on the outside. Mine gets hot enough where I can't leave my hand on it for too long and it's been used like that since last winter and everything is okay.

I've even got plastic bags right up against it to help seal off the gaps in the wall that I have the pipe through between the pipe and the wall studs and the plastic never melted.

So if the temp isn't gonna melt the plastic then the wall should be fine too.
