I have a 1992 Chevy Silverado Pickup and the Transmission won't make the vehicle go and it happens in all gears. Forward, Reverse, or any other gears just won't do anything.

A friend helped me tow it home.

Do you think my transmission is completely shot or can it be repaired with a simple repair?

First. Did you check the fluid level and make sure it has fluid. That's an important thing to do anyway often to make sure you're not losing fluid and ruin your transmission.

Another thing could be a shift cable broke or come lose.

If that's not it. You could have a clogged filter or your pump in the transmission went out.

There's also a solenoid in the transmission that operates some valves I believe. I haven't opened one in awhile so can't quite remember what's under the pan.

Failing that it could be the bands in the transmission broke and you'd need to get it rebuilt or find another transmission.
