Do landlords have to provide smoke alarms?

I just moved into a house that I'm renting and I noticed that the house has no smoke alarms?

I thought that smoke alarms were required?

Is a landlord responsible for providing smoke alarms when renting out their houses?

Yes your landlord is required to have at least one smoke detector installed in your house that your renting from them.

Either contact your landlord and have them install or even just go to a hardware store and purchase a smoke alarm yourself and install.

They don't cost much money you can just install one on the wall or ceiling.
