How often should I really need to have my cars oil changed?

Should I have my cars oil changed every 3,000 miles or can a car go longer than 3,000 miles without an oil change?

Newer cars can usually go longer than 3,000 miles without an oil change. But I still stick with the 3,000 mile oil change rule.

It's better to keep clean oil in your car. As a new engine is much more costly than getting your oil and oil filter changed.
