Is 50 considered old or middle aged?

Is the age 50 considered old or middle aged?

When I was a kid I used to consider being 50 was old. My dad was 50 when I was 10 and I thought he was old then.

Now he's gonna be 70 this year and although that age is getting up there I still don't consider him old.

I sure I hope I don't feel very old when I turn 50 in 20 years and 7 months.
