Why did I wake up this morning unable to move any part of my body except my eyes?

My legs, feet, neck head and my whole body went numb and I couldn't feel anything. I couldn't even open my mouth to talk?

It was very scary and I thought I might be having a stroke. But about 40 minutes later I started getting the feeling back in my legs and then my arms and then my neck.

I was able to get out of bed and walk and talk normally.

I'm scared to go back to bed again tonight in fear I may die in my sleep or something?

Could this have been a mild stroke I had during the night?

I'm not a doctor nor am I qualified to be one. But what you described sounds like what happened to me almost a year ago.

When I woke up everything was numb and I couldn't talk either. I actually thought I might be dying after I woke up.

I researched what happened to me and I came across the term Sleep Paralysis. Sleep Paralysis isn't a serious medical issue and it's caused by blood circulation being disrupted.

This can happen when your arms or any other limb where blood vessels are get pinched.

I sleep with a teddy bear between my arm to help keep blood circulation from being cut off but sometimes the bear falls out of bed and it did it that night. "And I actually like having him with me" He helps me sleep.

A teacher bought him for my 13th Birthday so I've had him for 16 going on 17 years. I'm 29 now and will be 30 March 8th 2018.

Anyway I think what happened is I laid on my arm during my sleep and it pinched some blood vessels and that's what paralyzed me.

So far it hasn't happened yet again.

In reality we actually could have been having a light stroke during the night since blood circulation was being cut off and not enough blood was getting to the brain.

The name doesn't say a stroke though. But it's called Transient Ischemic Attacks. But the symptoms are like a stroke.

If your still worried then it can't hurt to see a doctor and get a qualified medical opinion on this matter.

But I got to be honest. The last time I went to a doctor to get something diagnosed and get a medical opinion on it the doctor actually had to go to webmd.com to find out what was wrong with me. lol

I told the doctor I had looked at that website myself and got the same exact information that I was trying to get a better opinion about from the doctor.

So it did me no good to go to the doctor as the only thing that doctor could do is tell me the exact same stuff from webmd while looking at the information on their tablet. lol
