Stoats and Weasels are pretty similar to each other but the easiest way to tell the difference between a stoat and a weasel is to look at the tail.

Stoats and Weasels tails are different in appearance.

A Stoats tail is around half the length of its body and ends in a bushy black tip while a Weasels Tail is short and stubby by comparison and solely brown in in color.

Stoats and Weasels are also both mustelids and are both fast and ferocious, with sinuous bodies and short legs.

But the tail is the main way to tell the difference between a Stoat and a Weasel.
