What is the life expectancy of home electrical wiring? My house is 50 years old and I'm wondering if I should have the electrical wiring replaced in my 50 year old house?

How long does electrical wiring in a house supposed to last?

It can't hurt to get it inspected. But I doubt you'll need to replace electrical wire in your house that is only 50 years old.

I changed out some wire that was 80 years old and the insulation on the wire was basically in good shape. I just replaced it because it wasn't grounded.

Your wire should be grounded but if it's not then that would be a reason to upgrade your wring. The copper wire itself can last over 100 years. It's the insulation that usually breaks down over time. But at 50 years I'm sure your electrical wire is okay.
