You can power a whole house using solar panels if you have a big enough solar panel system.
The cost of the solar panels and solar panel system to completely power your entire house would be very expensive but it can be done.
If you have central air conditioning or electric heat then you would need a monster solar panel system and it would be best to just use the main electrical system from the electric grid to power the central air conditioner and electric heat if you have them.
I power some of my house with solar panels and even that was pretty costly and I really don't think I saved any money since the solar panels haven't paid for themselves yet and I doubt they ever will.
But I just love having some power coming from the solar panels.
