Yes hysterectomies are considered major surgery although they're safe to have.

When a hysterectomy surgery is performed they'll do a big incision on the belly and it's painful during the recovery but usually nothing to worry about.

Full recovery after having hysterectomy surgery is around 6 weeks but you should start to feel better within 1 to 2 weeks of the hysterectomy surgery.

If you're having a vaginal hysterectomy that can be done through the vagina without an incision and is done by using a laparoscope.

Hysterectomies are indeed considered and are major surgery.

A hysterectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the womb (uterus).

You'll no longer be able to get pregnant after the operation.

If you have not already gone through the menopause, you'll no longer have periods, regardless of your age.

Many women have a hysterectomy.

A total hysterectomy removes all of the uterus, including the cervix.

The ovaries and the fallopian tubes may or may not be removed.

This is the most common type of hysterectomy.

A partial, also called subtotal or supracervical, hysterectomy removes just the upper part of the uterus.

Hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus.

It may also involve removal of the cervix, ovaries, Fallopian tubes, and other surrounding structures.

Usually performed by a gynecologist, a hysterectomy may be total or partial.
