Yes it's safe to drive Adsense safe website traffic to your website from Adwords.
A lot of websites do this and are perfectly fine. But I would only drive the website traffic to my website from Adwords just to get exposure. Driving traffic long term using adwords just to earn money with Adsense can be costly.
