What is the average typing speed?

The average typing speed is 40 words per minute however for most office jobs or data entry jobs you need to have a typing speed of at least 60 to 80 words per minute in order to pass the typing test and get hired for the job.

Of course the faster you're able to type out the words the better chance you have at landing the job over someone else with a slower typing speed.

I type around 80 words per minute but used to only be able to type 40 words per minute until I practiced and got much better at it.

Keep practicing and overtime you should be able to increase your typing speed.
