Silver sulfadiazine slows healing for burns but for other wounds silver sulfadiazine speeds up and promotes healing.

Silvadene will help the skin  heal and help prevent the wound from becoming infected.

Silvadene has been prescribed and used effectively and safely for over 50 years although there are some newer wound dressings which can promote faster healing of the wound without the need for reapplication daily.

Silvadene does keep the wound moist and provide a moist environment to help speed of the wound healing.

The generic name for SSD cream is silver sulfadiazine.

After applying SSD cream it takes 3 to 5 days for silver sulfadiazine to work and to see results.

After 3 to 5 days you should start healing and if not you should let your doctor know.

You can put SSD cream on an open wound to help stop the growth of bacteria that may infect the open wound.

The SSD or silver sulfadiazine cream helps the open wound and decreases the risk of bacteria spreading to surrounding skin or to the blood where it can lead to sepsis.

SSD is the same as Silvadene as SSD is Generic for Silvadene.

You should apply SSD cream 2 times a day and apply a thin layer of the silver sulfadiazine to the affected area.

Keep the area covered with the silver sulfadiazine cream at all times and if it is rubbed off you should reapply it.

SSD is an antibiotic cream that works by killing the bacteria and preventing it from growing.

SSD ointment is used for the treatment of wound infections in people that have second and third degree burns.

SSD ointment is silver sulfadiazine ointment cream.

People with severe burns over large areas of the body must be treated in a hospital.

The SSD ointment or silver sulfadiazine ointment is an antibiotic which works by killing the bacteria or preventing the growth of the bacteria.

SSD ointment is particularly helpful in preventing burn wounds and small skin grafts from becoming infected.

Silver sufadiazine ointment is also prescribed to help treat infected leg ulcers and pressure sores.

It works by killing the germs (bacteria) responsible for skin infections.

Silver sulfadiazine has in vitro activity against a wide range of organisms including S. aureus, E. coli, Klebsiella species, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus species and Candida albicans.

Your doctor will write a prescription for Silvadene cream either in the hospital or in the burn clinic.

The prescription can be filled in any drug store.

Silvadene should be applied 2 times a day unless your doctor tells you to do it differently.

Apply a thin layer (about 1/16 inch) of silver sulfadiazine to the affected areas.

Keep the affected areas covered with the medicine at all times.

If the silver sulfadiazine medicine is rubbed off the affected areas by moving around or if it is washed off during bathing, showering, or the use of a whirlpool bath, reapply the medicine.
