If your blog is getting a few clicks a month at 4 months old then you're doing pretty good.
Most new websites don't get any ad revenue for at least a year.
4 months is pretty young for a website these days. Google gives better rankings to older domains and websites.
I wouldn't give up. Expect it to take 18 months before you start seeing any substantial website traffic.
As your website and domain get's older google will trust your website better and will more likely send traffic your way.
Make sure in that time that you're also posting more content. Make sure you post lots of quality content to your website.
Keep it updated.
The more content that google has indexed of your website. The more chances you have at being found in googles search engines.
Use long tail keywords that will help your website content rank better too. The long tail keywords have less competition.
