Zinc oxide does not burn diaper rash and can be used to treat diaper rash as well as minor burns, chapped skin and other skin irritations.

When your baby's diaper rash is not going away then the diaper rash is most likely caused by a yeast infection.

The area under the diaper is a warm, moist environment that attracts yeast that can lead to infection.

You may need some prescription strength diaper rash cream to help cure the baby's yeast diaper rash.

Contact your baby's doctor if your baby has diaper rash and the diaper rash doesn't get better after several days or there are pimples, blisters, or open sores in the diaper area or your baby has diarrhea with a fever or looks dehydrated.

Also allowing the diaper area to dry for 5 to 10 minutes before putting on a new diaper can help with healing of the diaper rash.

A bacterial infection diaper rash looks like bright red skin around the anus which can also be a sign of strep infection and if the bacterial infection diaper rash is caused by staph infection it can look like yellow crusting, weeping or pimples.

A yeast diaper rash takes between 2 weeks to 3 weeks to heal and completely go away.

A yeast diaper rash is not contagious and cannot spread from person to person like a virus or cold can.

Yeast diaper rashes and yeast infections are caused by an overgrowth of a yeast caused by an imbalance of healthy bacteria in your baby's body.

The home remedy that you can use for diaper yeast infection or yeast diaper rash infection is Apple cider vinegar.

You can mix 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with a 1/2 cup of water and apply it to a washcloth and then pat the washcloth gently against the baby's skin where the diaper rash is.

Then let the area dry before putting a new diaper on your baby.

The best thing to use for a yeast infection diaper rash is antifungal cream or antifungal ointment to stop the yeast growth of the diaper rash.

If the yeast diaper rash is very severe then your child's pediatrician may recommend a steroid ointment such as hydrocortisone to treat the yeast infection diaper rash.

Desitin and Balmex can sometimes help with a yeast infection diaper rash as well.

It is OK to use Desitin or other diaper rash cream every diaper change although it's not always necessary.

You can also apply some Vaseline or other Petroleum Jelly to the diaper area every diaper change as well.

Keeping your baby's diaper changed often and the diaper area clean and dry can help prevent future diaper rash.

You can also use Hydrocortisone cream, anti-fungal cream or Witch hazel for clearing diaper rash.

Things that causes diaper rash to get worse are overzealous cleansing, use of fragrance or scented based soaps, using scented baby wipes, not changing diapers often enough and not allowing the diaper area to air out.

Also certain foods can also worsen diaper rash such as.

Citrus fruits and juices.
Tomatoes and tomato-based products (this includes foods like spaghetti sauce)
Strawberries.
Pineapple.
Grapes.
Raisins.

Most cases of diaper rash heal and go away within 3 to 4 days although some diaper rashes can last as long as 7 days.

If the diaper rash does not get better within 7 days then you may need to take your child to the pediatrician or urgent care.

If your baby or child has diaper rash with blisters or bright red with raised bumps then you should seek medical attention for the diaper rash.

You can get rid of diaper rash by applying some Balmex diaper rash cream or Desitin Diaper Rash cream to the diaper area.

Also allowing the diaper area to air out for 30 minutes or so during the day if possible can help speed up the healing of the diaper rash.

If the diaper rash is more severe it can take as long as 5 to 7 days to clear up.

A yeast diaper rash will look like a swollen red rash with white scales and lesions and they may even appear as small white pus filled lesions that are surrounded by redness.

Diaper rash can be healed fast by airing the diaper rash area out for 20 to 30 minutes a day and by using mild (0.5% to 1%) hydrocortisone (steroid) cream twice a day for 3 to 5 days.

Using Balmex diaper rash cream can also help the diaper rash heal fast.

I use Balmex on my 2 year old son's bottom and diaper area and it treats diaper rash really good and helps to prevent diaper rash as well and he has no issues with it.

Side effects of Balmex are irritation, redness, stinging and burning.

If the symptoms last too long or get worse tell your doctor.

Balmex is good for diaper rash and provides fast, effective diaper rash relief and protection against wetness, chafing and irritating digestive enzymes that pass through the baby's poop and into the diaper.

For diaper rash pediatricians recommend mild (0.5% to 1%) hydrocortisone (steroid) cream twice a day for 3 to 5 days.

You should also keep your baby's or child's skin as dry and clean as possible and change diapers frequently to prevent diaper rash and to help the diaper rash heal.

The best recommended diaper rash cream is Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy Skin Protectant.

Boudreaux's Butt Paste Maximum Strength Diaper Rash Ointment is also a good diaper rash cream.

Other best diaper rash creams are.

Weleda Baby Calendula Diaper Cream.
Best Diaper Rash Cream For Stubborn Rashes: Triple Paste.
Best Diaper Rash Cream For Sensitive Skin: Babo Botanicals Sensitive Baby Fragrance Free Diaper Cream.
Best Diaper Rash Cream For Newborns: Aquaphor Fast Relief Diaper Rash Paste.

To clear diaper rash and treat diaper rash wash your baby's diaper area gently with warm water.

When your baby has a diaper rash you should also try to avoid soaps and baby wipes as these can irritate sore skin.

Let the skin dry fully.

After the skin dries fully you can then apply a diaper ointment or paste that contains zinc oxide (such as such as Desitin, Triple Paste, Balmex, or a store brand).

Diaper rash usually goes away within 2 to 3 days with home care, although it can last longer.

Skin ointments or pastes also can help to treat or prevent irritant diaper rash.

The ointment or paste should be applied at every diaper change and can be covered with a thin layer of petroleum jelly to prevent sticking to the diaper.

Diaper rash is caused by wet or infrequently changed diapers, diarrhea, new foods, and antibiotics.

The main symptom of diaper rash is a red rash on the babies or child's bottom.

In severe cases of diaper rash, symptoms such as fever and widespread rash can occur.

Most diaper rashes start to improve after a few days of at-home care with over-the-counter ointment and more-frequent diaper changes.

If the diaper rash doesn't start to improve, or if fever and rash develop, a doctor visit is needed.

Be sure to change your baby's or child's diaper often and allow the diaper area to air dry for 20 minutes to 30 minutes when possible.

And be sure to clean the diaper area with a wash cloth or wipes to remove any potential pee that could be left on the skin.
