A sugar glider can be kept as pets since it's not illegal to own a Sugar Glider but since Sugar Gliders are not domesticated they do not make good pets so it's not recommended to have a sugar glider as a pet.
Although Sugar Gliders are not really violent towards humans they're still not very affectionate and they typically don't like the attention that humans give them like dogs and cats do.
Also Sugar Gliders can't just eat any store bought pet food since they're exotic animals and need a special diet to keep them healthy and alive.
Taking on a Sugar Glider as a pet is a huge responsibility and they're best left to roam the wild and not become pets.
