When my dad had a spinal fusion performed a few years ago he started recovering from the spinal fusion within a month but to fully recover from the spinal fusion it took him three months.
The worst of the pain usually goes away within 4 weeks but after three months the pain should be fully over.
You should start to heal and be able to do more and more activities as the back heals up.
