What is the difference between cellulitis and erysipelas?

Erysipelas is an infection that is superficial and affects only the upper layer of the skin where as Cellulitis in an infection that affects tissues that are deeper than the upper layer of the skin.

However these two conditions can overlap making it hard to get a definite diagnosis of these conditions.

The bacteria that usually causes Erysipelas is called Streptococci.
