When your vehicles throttle position sensor is bad your vehicle may buck or jerk unexpectedly or your vehicle will suddenly have idle surges.

Other symptoms of a bad throttle position sensor are engine stalling that suddenly happens without any other apparent reason and even hesitation when you accelerate.

A surge in speed while driving on the highway is another symptom of of bad throttle position sensor and your check engine light may start flashing intermittently.
