Owning just one dog is not cheap so expect to have a good budget and a good income to properly take care of your dog because those expenses for a dog can add up.

The Three Main Expenses of owning a dog are.

Food.

Cost of food will vary depending on the brand of food you buy for your dog as some food is more expensive than others.

But expect to pay from $50.00 to $150.00 per month on Dog Food alone just for one dog.

Vet Expenses.

If you take your dog to the Vet for checkups and get them shots etc then the cost of Vet Visits can cost you up to $1,000.00 or more per year.

Then if the dog requires any other medical or surgical procedure then the cost could be as high as $5,000.00 or more.

Pet Health Insurance.

Pet Insurance isn't mandatory but it can be worth it to have in case your dog needs any high cost surgical or medical procedures done.

Pet Insurance Typically costs from $175.00 per year to $225.00 per year depending on how much health insurance coverage you have for your pet and how big or small the pet is.

It's estimated that people spend on average of $27,000.00 to $60,000.00 over the course of a dogs life.

A dog is much cheaper than a human kid though but still they're expensive.
