Yes a bad throttle position sensor can cause an engine to misfire and the bad throttle position sensor can cause other engine performance problems as well such as poor acceleration, hesitation, slow or rough engine idle, stalling and even cause hard starting or cause the engine to not start at all.

The throttle position sensor is very important to a properly running engine as it sends a signal to the computer and controls the fuel injection system and fuel delivery.
