Avocado is a fruit and not a vegetable.

Although Avocados are prepared and eaten like vegetables the Avocado is indeed a fruit and are actually single seeded berries in the family of sassafras which is the bay laurel and various species of cinnamon tree.

Avocados are not considered vegan because avocados require bees to pollinate the fruit to help them grow.

However avocados can be eaten on a vegan diet as they are not animals themselves but they are made with the help of bees.

In reality avocados are vegan because they do not contain any animal ingredients although bees are used to pollinate the avocado trees.

The avocado is a tree originating in the Americas which is likely native to the highland regions of south-central Mexico to Guatemala.

It is classified as a member of the flowering plant family Lauraceae.

The fruit of the plant, also called an avocado, is botanically a large berry containing a single large seed.

Avocados are a source of vitamins C, E, K, and B6, as well as riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, and potassium.

They also provide lutein, beta carotene, and omega-3 fatty acids.

Avocados contain high levels of healthy, beneficial fats, which can help a person feel fuller between meals.

There is no reason to be concerned that avocados are fattening, if you eat them as part of a nutrient-dense diet based on whole foods.

On the contrary, avocados have many qualities of a weight-loss–friendly food.

Avocados are also a higher FODMAP food, meaning they contain carbohydrates that may not be digested or absorbed well.

So, those following a low-FODMAP diet or those with intestinal bacterial overgrowth will also want to stick to an eighth an avocado serving, although there is no magic amount for everyone.

Avocados contain small-chain carbohydrates called polyols that can have a laxative-like effect when consumed in large quantities.

And if you have an avocado intolerance or sensitivity to these natural sugars, you may also experience bloating, gas, or an upset stomach up to 48 hours after eating it.
