The sinus pressure alone won't kill you but in rare cases if the sinus infection is in the center of your head then the sinus infection can spread to your brain.
When it does that it can lead to brain abscess or meningitis but again that's very rare to happen.
Although rare before we had antibiotics people would die from a condition known as sinusitis.
