Getting the hantavirus from mice is rare and only 15 to 20 percent of mice are infected with hantavirus.
The hantavirus is spread through inhaling or coming into contact with mice or rat urine and droppings.
When cleaning up any mice or rat droppings it's best to wear a mask and gloves and use a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter to avoid getting sick from the hantavirus.
