The great conjunction means the conjunction of the planets Jupiter and Saturn, when the two planets appear closest together in the sky.

Great conjunctions occur approximately every 20 years when Jupiter "overtakes" Saturn in its orbit.

In astrology, a conjunction is formed when two or more planets line up exactly.

When they line up, their vibrations blend and work together.

A Great Conjunction happens when Jupiter and Saturn align.

Both of the planets are associated with authority, but each very differently.

According to Bedell, when you think conjunction, think conjoined.

"Essentially what it means is that these energies have become really integrative and allow us to see some complementary energy available to us.

For example, take Venus and Jupiter.

Jupiter is said to be the planet of optimism, expansion, healing, growth, and miracles; Saturn, conversely, is associated with restriction, responsibility, and long-term lessons.

The great conjunction which is a rare event occurs when the planets appear exceptionally close to each other in the sky, as a result of their slower orbits.

Based on their orbits, Jupiter (which orbits the sun every 11.9 Earth years) and Saturn (every 29.5 Earth years) appear close together roughly every 19.6 Earth years.

Great conjunctions occur approximately every 20 years when Jupiter "overtakes" Saturn in its orbit.

They are named "great" for being by far the rarest of the conjunctions between naked-eye planets (i.e. excluding Uranus and Neptune).
