You will know when a rash is healing when the rash starts to go away and your skin color goes back to normal.

If the rash is not healing and spreading then you should see a doctor but most rashes do eventually go away within a week or two.

You can apply some lotion or Vaseline or other antibiotic ointment to the rash to help speed up the healing and prevent itching.

Signs you should see a doctor about a rash include.

The rash is all over your body.
You have a fever with the rash.
The rash is sudden and spreads rapidly.
The rash begins to blister.
The rash is painful.
The rash is infected.

The stages of a rash are 3 stages which include.

Stage 1: A blotchy red rash on the cheeks with groups of red papules.

Stage 2: After 4 days, a net of red marks may appear on the arms and trunk.

Stage 3: In the third stage, the rash only appears after exposure to sunlight or heat.

A bacterial rash will appear as small, red bumps which slowly get larger in size.

Some bacterial infections are mild and also easy to treat with topical antibiotics while other bacterial infections require an oral antibiotic to treat.

You should let a rash breathe and not cover it.

You should not cover a rash as a rash will heal much better and faster when it's left open to the air as much as possible.

You can also apply some petroleum jelly or Vaseline to the rash to keep it moist and speed up the healing.

Moisturizing lotion like Cetaphil can also be applied to a rash to promote healing of the rash.

Avoid scrubbing your skin.
Use gentle cleansers.
Avoid applying cosmetic lotions or ointments directly on the rash.
Use warm (not hot) water for cleaning.
Stop using any recently added cosmetics or lotions.
Leave the affected area exposed to the air as much as possible.

Keep the itchy area cool and moist.

Put cloths soaked in ice water on the rash a few times a day.

Too much wetting and drying will dry the skin, which can increase itching.

Some things you can do to help a rash heal are.

    Oatmeal bath.
