You should let a rash breathe and not cover it.

You should not cover a rash as a rash will heal much better and faster when it's left open to the air as much as possible.

You can also apply some petroleum jelly or Vaseline to the rash to keep it moist and speed up the healing.

Moisturizing lotion like Cetaphil can also be applied to a rash to promote healing of the rash.

Some general guidelines you should follow when you have a rash are.

Avoid scrubbing your skin.
Use gentle cleansers.
Avoid applying cosmetic lotions or ointments directly on the rash.
Use warm (not hot) water for cleaning.
Stop using any recently added cosmetics or lotions.
Leave the affected area exposed to the air as much as possible.

Keep the itchy area cool and moist.

Put cloths soaked in ice water on the rash a few times a day.

Too much wetting and drying will dry the skin, which can increase itching.

Some things you can do to help a rash heal are.

Cold compress. One of the fastest and easiest ways to stop the pain and itch of a rash is to apply cold. ...
    Oatmeal bath.
    Aloe vera (fresh)
    Coconut oil.
    Tea tree oil.
    Baking soda.
    Indigo naturalis.
    Apple cider vinegar.

Pollen, Mold, and Dust.

Any number of environmental allergens can worsen skin symptoms.

It may help to get your blood and skin tested to pinpoint your allergic triggers.

If you avoid the substance causing the reaction, the rash often clears up in 2 to 4 weeks.

You can try soothing your skin with a cool, wet cloth and other self-care steps.
