Fruit flies are attracted to any organic material that is sugary.
If you have any fruits laying around such as apples, bananas, pears or any other sugary fruit laying around you should put the fruit up away from the fruit flies.
You can get rid of fruit flies by making some homemade fruit fly traps out of pop bottle or another small container that the flies cannot get out of.
Put a piece of fruit into a soda bottle and add a little sugar and water to the bottle.
Don't fill the bottle too full but just fill it a little bit so that the fruit flies and other flies will get trapped in the bottle.
The flies will be attracted to the fruit and sugar in the bottle and fly into the bottle to get to the fruit and will get trapped in the bottle.
