Most likely you'll need a checking or other bank account with bank of america and have sufficient funds in your account for them to cash the check.
They might however cash a check that is drawn on their own bank if you don't have a bank account with them but bank of america will charge you a fee of $6.00 per check if you don't have an account with them.
