Can a blind person get an eye transplant and see again?

Is it possible for a person that is blind to have an eye transplant done and be able to see once again?

There's no way for a complete eye transplant to be done where someone can see again just because they get a new eye from someone.

It's not really the eyeball itself that causes blindness but instead it's the nerves called the optic nerve which goes from the eyeball directly to the brain.

So even if you get a new eyeball put in place you'll still be blind as long as the optic nerve is damaged.

You'd have to have the optic nerve transplanted as well to be able to see again.
