A debt collector is allowed to pursue old debt as long as they want too but there's a statue of limitations on them suing and forcing you to pay the debt back.
After 7 years of the debt collector trying to collect the debt they can't sue you after the 7 years is up if the haven't done so before that 7 years is up.
