I write two blogs myself and I have one blog in a niche of health while another niche is in Tech.

A profit is where you make more money than the cost to run the blog.

So for me It was costing me $5.00 per month for hosting my blog and then another $10.00 per year for the domain so total cost per month to host the blog for me was around roughly $5.75 per month including the domain cost.

So once I started getting 30,000 monthly visitors I started making from $10.00 to $20.00 per month blogging from Adsense.

Now that's not a good income but it's profit since I had money leftover after paying the hosting and domain cost for the blog.

Once I started getting up to 120,000 monthly unique visitors to the blog then I started earning from $200.00 to $300.00 per month from Adsense.

Staying motivated with your blog is very hard especially if you're only blogging for money.

When I started my blog I wanted to make money from it and was disappointed after blogging for 2 years pounding on the keyboard typing all that content in my spare time and still barely getting any visitors from Google or other search engines.

After a year of blogging my traffic picked up a little and I started earning $5.00 per month through Adsense.

At that rate it would take me forever to get to the payout on Adsense which is $100.00

I was about ready to give up. But I read some other blogs that stated it took them years to make a living blogging and to keep working at it.

I'm glad I continued with my blog because now I earn $1,000.00 per month after blogging for 7 years and writing on topics that get searched more.

Blogging seems like an easy way to make a living but in reality it's not. It takes years of hard work to really start earning a living blogging.

I use google ads keyword planner to research keywords that get a high monthly search volume which bring in lots of targeted traffic to my blog.

So if you want to make money and eventually quit your 9 to 5 job then I say keep on blogging and eventually overtime you can earn a good living from it even while you sleep.

It just takes a lot of hard work in the very beginning but after some years you can sit back and collect your money from the ads.

Don't get me wrong there is still some work writing blog posts and updating and maintaining your blog over those years but it doesn't take as much work to keep your blog going after the initial years of hard work typing on the keyboard pounding out those words for the great content for your blog.

In my experience you need to have a minimum of 100,000 to 150,000 unique monthly visitors to your blog or website in order to start earning a part time income blogging.

Anything under 100,000 unique visitors to your blog you could still earn a little money but not much with Adsense depending on the niche your blog is in.

I started getting $300.00 per month from Adsense through my blog after I reached 150,000 monthly unique visitors and when I got to 300,000 monthly unique visitors I started making $1,000.00 per month.

It took my blog 7 years to get to 300,000 monthly unique visitors and earn $1,000.00 per month.

Blogging is hard work and you have to write on topics that get a lot of searches per month so you can gain a lot of traffic from your blog content.

You can use google ads keyword planner to get an estimate of the amount of searches for a keyword that you plan to write on.

After I researched keywords and started writing on those keywords and topics my search traffic from both Google search, Yahoo Search and Bing really started to increase and with that increased targeted traffic I started getting more clicks on my Adsense ads which earned me money.

I now make money in my sleep from blogging from articles I wrote years ago.

When I started my blog I started to make a little bit of money within the first year through Adsense on my blog but it was only a few dollars at the most.

I worked on my blog writing great content for 5 years with very little money coming in from all that work but all that work eventually paid off and after that 5 years of work I started to make enough to live off of my blog and quit my 9-5 office job.

I can't give exact details on how much I earn per month because of Google's Terms of Service. But I do make enough now to live off of.

But that doesn't mean I can stop working on my blog. I still have to work on creating more great content to keep my blog readers happy and coming back and for Google and other search engines to keep coming back to my website to crawl and rank my content.

Google loves fresh content and updated websites and will rank them higher than other websites who don't write and publish fresh content.

When you create a website or blog with the intention of earning money or a living from it one thing you need to have is patience since it will take some time to build up search traffic and take time to build up blog content unless you have a huge team writing great content for your blog.

It can also take 90 to 180 days for your new content to rank in Google search so you might not get any search traffic from your blog content until 3 to 6 months later.

But when your content eventually ranks you will continue to receive search traffic for years to come.

Google also loves older domains and websites so the older your website and domain are the better you will rank.

And if your website starts to get really popular years down the road you could rank new content within a month or in some cases if you're lucky new content could rank in 1 day.

Blogging for an income and SEO is a long term process and you won't get rich overnight blogging.
