Salt Water can give some people a rash.

Some peoples skin are more sensitive to the salt water and get a skin rash as a result of swimming in salt water.

Salt water may also cause skin irritation as well.

Also known as cercarial dermatitis, swimmer's itch is most common in freshwater lakes and ponds, but it occasionally occurs in salt water.

Swimmer's itch is a rash usually caused by an allergic reaction to parasites that burrow into your skin while you're swimming or wading in warm water.

In most cases, salt water causes dry and itchy skin but chlorine triggers irritated skin and sometimes even a nasty rash.

Saltwater itself is not bad for your skin, but constant exposure to a combination of salt, sun and sand can irritate and dry out skin, especially for those with a history of dry skin or other issues like eczema.

Some ways to get rid of a salt water rash include.

Use corticosteroid cream.
Apply cool compresses to the affected areas.
Bathe in Epsom salts or baking soda.
Soak in colloidal oatmeal baths.
Apply baking soda paste to the rash (made by stirring water into baking soda until it reaches a paste-like consistency)
