When a Torque Converter goes bad it can make noises.

Some noises that a Torque converter can make are clicking noises and whirring noises and sometimes even a slight chirp noise that sounds like a bird chirping.

When you continue driving with a bad torque converter the torque converter will get worse and worse and eventually it will leave you stranded as the torque converter will no longer be able to transfer torque from the engine to the transmission.

Some signs and symptoms of a malfunctioning and bad torque converter include shuddering coming from the transmission while driving, gears changing at a higher than normal engine speed, and odd noises such as clicking or whirring.

If not enough or too much fluid is passed to the gearbox, it can cause gears to slip.

A torque converter is a type of fluid coupling which transfers rotating power from a prime mover, like an internal combustion engine, to a rotating driven load. In a vehicle with an automatic transmission, the torque converter connects the power source to the load.

The Torque converter sits behind the engine between the engine and transmission so you have to remove the transmission to replace the Torque Converter which means it's a big job.

A new Torque converter can cost as much as $200.00 to $300.00 and another $300.00 or so for labor charges.
