Code 3 in the hospital means that a patient is about to arrive in serious condition as the ambulance is on it's way to an emergency with a patient in serious condition and they are arriving at the hospital with a patient or patients that need immediate medical care.

Code 3 in an Ambulance means the Ambulance is needed for immediate response and they are to use lights and sirens and disobey traffic laws.

A Code 3 Response in the United States is used to describe a mode of response for an emergency vehicle responding to a call.

It is commonly used to mean "use lights and siren". In some agencies, Code 3 is also called a Hot Response.

Police Code 3 means that the police officer is to respond to a call or scene with lights and sirens going at the fastest speed possible and to disregard traffic laws.

Code 3 Emergency/lights and siren. Code 4 No further assistance is needed.

Code 30 Officer needs HELP - EMERGENCY!

The code 3 is commonly used to mean "use lights and siren".

In some agencies, Code 3 is also called a Hot Response.

If a unit is responding to a call without lights or sirens (code 1), and the unit later needs to turn on lights and sirens (code 3), the term upgrade may be used.

When a police officer needs to respond code 3 it means there's a serious situation going on that needs the officers response as soon as safely possible for them to do.

So if the police get a code 3 response they will turn the lights and sirens on and will speed through lights, stop signs etc and will usually be traveling at speeds of 80 MPH to 100 MPH depending on the road conditions and how fast they can safely go.

For example if there was a shooting going on then the police need to get there quickly they would respond with code 3 and be racing as fast as they can to get to to the scene.
