Summer Sausage does not have to be cooked as summer sausage is already fully cooked and cured and ready to eat.

Although some people prefer to heat the summer sausage up but you can slice it up and eat the summer sausage as is.

To defrost summer sausage you can leave it out at room temperature overnight or defrost the summer sausage overnight in the refrigerator.

You could also defrost the summer sausage in the microwave which would be faster.

When eating summer sausage you do need to peel the outer wrapper off the summer sausage.
