A burger or hamburger is considered to be too rare when the internal temperature of the burger or hamburger is not at least 120 F or higher.

The burger needs to be cooked to 120 F or higher in temperature to kill bacteria.

A burger or hamburger is well done when there's no pink or red color to the meat.

Cooking a burger or hamburger to well done takes 6 minutes.

Cook the burger on one side for 3 minutes and then flip the burger over and cook the other side of the burger for another 3 minutes.

The outside edges of the burger should be brown and no longer pink or red and both sides of the burger as in the top and bottom of the burger should not show any signs of pink or red color as well.

You can cut the burger in half and look on the inside of the meat and when it's showing all brown and no pink color inside the meat then the hamburger meat is done.

Another way to tell when a burger or hamburger is done and fully cooked is to use a meat thermometer.

When you insert a meat thermometer into the middle or side of the hamburger and the internal temperature reaches 160 F the hamburger or burger is well done.

At 120°F, the burger is rare.

At 130°F the burger is medium-rare.

140°F is medium and 150°F the burger is medium-well done, and over 160°F the burger is well done.
