To cook dried whole green peas fill a bowl with the dried green peas or fill a pot with the dried whole green peas and soak them overnight.

Soaking the dried whole green peas helps the dried green peas cook faster and more evenly.

Then the next day drain the water out and replace the water with fresh water.

Fill the pot halfway with the dried whole green peas, then fill the pot with enough water to cover the top of the peas.

Adding too much water can cause the water to boil over and spill out of the pot.

Then put a lid on the pot but leave a slight gap to allow the steam to vent and turn the heat down to simmer and allow the dried whole green peas to cook for 60 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes or until they become soft.

Cooking dry green peas takes up to 60 minutes which is 1 hour.

That is if you soak them first but if you don't soak the green peas first overnight then it may take as long as 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Fill the pot halfway with green peas, leaving room for expansion and then fill the pot up with water to cover the green peas and get the water boiling.

Then after the water is boiling for a few minutes turn the heat down to simmer and allow the green peas to cook for 60 minutes to an hour or until they becomes soft and mushy.

Green Peas can be cooked without soaking them first.

However soaking the green peas is recommended before cooking them as soaking the green peas before cooking helps them cook faster and more evenly.

But if you prefer to cook the green peas without soaking them first you can do so.

Dried Peas do need to be soaked overnight prior to cooking them so that they cook faster and cook better.

You can cook dried peas without soaking them first but it will take longer for the dried peas to cook so it's recommended that you allow the dried peas to soak overnight and then cook the dried peas the next day.

However dried split peas don't require soaking before cooking but regular dried peas just like beans should be soaked prior to cooking them.

Soaking the dried peas helps to remove an enzyme that causes gas and helps the dried peas cook faster and more evenly.

You'll have better cooked peas when you soak the dried peas overnight before cooking them.

After soaking dried peas and beans before cooking them I don't get as much gas buildup in my stomach and I fart less often after eating dried peas and beans and they always cook faster too.
